You don't have to throw yourself down a mountain (or peddle up one!) to enjoy the Afan Forest on two wheels. The ‘Y Rheilffordd’ trail (Railway in Welsh) is a network of 36km of disused railway lines which runs along the base of the Valley, forming a low-level cycleway that's ideal for families.
You can start the trail from the Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre, Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre or Rhyslyn Car Park, which is just a 2-minute cycle from Ty Hiraeth.

A perfect base

Ty Hiraeth is also a perfect base for exploring – from beaches to waterfalls, castles to coal mines, you’d have to try really hard to be bored in South Wales.

We'd be here all day listing them all, but you can find out more at or at
